Big news for all vehicle owners in Ghana!
The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has officially approved new minimum motor insurance tariffs, effective 16th February 2026.

Below are the NIC-approved minimum Third Party premiums, effective 16th February 2026. These are the least you're allowed to pay—anything lower is invalid.

PRIVATE & COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
  • Private Vehicle – Individual: GHS 557.00
  • Private Vehicle – Corporate: GHS 557.00
  • Taxi: GHS 744.00
  • Hiring / Rental Car: GHS 744.00 (Excluding extra seats)
  • Mini Bus: GHS 744.00 (Excluding extra seats)
  • Maxi Bus / Coach: GHS 744.00

🔹 SPECIAL VEHICLE CLASSES

🔹 AGRIC & HEAVY VEHICLES (GW1)
  • GW1 – Class 1: GHS 607.00
  • GW1 – Class 2: GHS 744.00
  • GW1 – Class 3: GHS 920.00
🔹 MOTOR CYCLES & TRICYCLES
  • Motorcycle: GHS 331.00
  • Motor Tricycle / Aboboyaa / Quadrucycle: GHS 431.00
Important notes (don't skip this):
  • These are minimum premiums, not discounts.
  • Extra passenger seats attract additional seat charges. (15.00 GH¢ per extra seat beyond the fifth for individual, corporate, and Ambulance/Hearse; for all other motor classes, 25.00 GH¢ per extra seat.)
  • Any policy sold below these figures is non-compliant and risky at claims time.
At RMAS, our job is simple:
  • Make sure you pay only what is required
  • Understand what you're buying
  • And stay fully protected—no stories later.
